Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026

This policy describes what you may and may not do with the Basepoint platform (the "Service"), operated by Basepoint Labs, Inc.. It forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meaning given there. You are responsible for everyone who uses the Service under your account.

1. Use the Service for its purpose

The Service is for energy and infrastructure development work: screening sites, checking grid and interconnection, researching permits, designing layouts, modeling project finance, and managing the documents and people around a project. Use it for that, lawfully, and in line with the plan you have subscribed to.

2. Do not misuse accounts or access

  • Do not share login credentials or let someone outside your team use your seat.
  • Do not access, or try to access, another team's data, another user's account, or any part of the Service you have not been given access to.
  • Do not probe, scan, or test the Service for vulnerabilities except as allowed by our Vulnerability Disclosure Policy.
  • Do not bypass or weaken any authentication, rate limit, or access control.

3. Do not harm the Service or other users

  • Do not upload malware, or anything designed to disrupt, overload, or damage the Service or the systems it connects to.
  • Do not run automated traffic, scraping, or bulk extraction against the Service except through the API, within the limits of your plan.
  • Do not reverse engineer, decompile, or copy the Service, its data layers, or its models, or build a competing product from them.
  • Do not resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service, or to data obtained through it, without our written consent.

4. Respect data rights and the law

  • Only upload data you have the right to use. That includes personal data, which you must have a lawful basis to process, and third-party data such as utility, parcel, or market datasets, which you must hold a licence for.
  • Do not upload export-controlled or classified material, or data you are bound not to share, such as Critical Energy Infrastructure Information, unless our agreement with you covers it.
  • Do not use the Service to infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, or to break any law or regulation that applies to you.

5. Use AI features responsibly

  • Do not use agents, chat, or extraction to generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, deceptive, or harassing.
  • Do not attempt to extract model weights, system prompts, or other users' data through AI features.
  • Review AI output before relying on it. It is produced to speed up your work, not to replace professional judgement, engineering review, or legal advice.

6. Outreach and communications

Where the Service helps you contact landowners, counterparties, or officials, you are responsible for complying with the laws that govern that contact, including anti-spam, telemarketing, and do-not-contact rules in the relevant jurisdiction.

7. Enforcement

If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken we may remove content, suspend access, or terminate the account, with notice where practical and without notice where the breach is serious or ongoing. We may also report unlawful activity to the authorities. Where a breach is minor and can be fixed, we will usually contact you first.

8. Reporting a breach

If you see this policy being broken, or you are unsure whether something you plan to do is allowed, write to hello@getbasepoint.com.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are announced by email or in the Service. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
